The annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail is a tour of eight studios with 20+ nationally recognized potters. Easily reached from Boston, Hartford, and the Albany area, the free, self-guided tour winds along the beautiful back roads and scenic historic towns of the Asparagus Valley, a local name for the upper Connecticut River valley of western Massachusetts. The Pottery Trail celebrates the rich agricultural history and cultural vitality of the area, as well as the longstanding connection between pottery and food.

Millworks! Maker and Artists Market

Our next MillWorks! event is in conjunction with Moonlight Magic on Friday, November 24 from 4-9 p.m. and Small Business Saturday, November 25, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Mill has free onsite parking at 49 Conway Street and is located on the Buckland side of the Iron Bridge in Shelburne Falls. The Mill at Shelburne Falls sponsors a shuttle operated by Adventure East for MillWorks! on Friday night that circles between the Buckland Shelburne Elementary School and Mill parking lots (with stops along the way).

Print, Dye & Stitch Workshop at The Permaculture Place

Join Marjorie from Print & Dye Workshop in Shelburne Falls for an exploration of natural color on cloth and paper at The Permaculture Place at The Mill in Shelburne Falls November 4th and 5th, 10:00-4:00.

Day One: Marjorie will teach about Natural Dyeing

Day Two: Marjorie will teach us simple bookbinding and/or stitching, and we will assemble our work

In this two-day workshop we will use local leaves, flowers, and other natural dyes to create a collection of prints and textiles that can be transformed into a variety of paper and cloth works, including hand stitched books, cards, quilts, and more. No prior experience is required for this exploratory workshop; only enthusiasm and a love of nature. Leave your expectations at the door!

(There will be an additional $40 materials fee for this weekend) ~ The total for the 2 day workshop including materials is $245.)

The Gaslight Tinkers' blend of global rhythms creates a joyously danceable sound around a core of traditional New England old time and celtic fiddle music, merging boundless positive energy with melody and song. Since its formation in 2012 the band has lit up the East Coast, the West Coast, and the Caribbean, headlining clubs, dances, and major festivals. Playing what The Valley Advocate describes as Music that consistently fizzes and pops with unexpected textures and turns, The Gaslight Tinkers shows are packed with delightful surprises, elated crowds, and exuberant musicianship. The sound and energy of Audrey, Jopey, Garrett, and Peter are universally irresistible.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, a picnic, and your dancing shoes! We have extra chairs if you need one...

Jay Ungar & Molly Mason achieved international acclaim when their performance of Jay's composition, Ashokan Farewell, became the musical hallmark of Ken Burns' The Civil War on PBS. The soundtrack won a Grammy and Ashokan Farewell was nominated for an Emmy. Jay and Molly are musicians of enormous talent who draw their repertoire and inspiration from a wide range of American musical styles, 19th-century classics, lively Appalachian, Cajun, and Celtic fiddle tunes, and favorites from the golden age of country and swing, along with their own songs, fiddle tunes, and orchestral compositions

View the film 'Reflection, A Walk With Water' and then meet the filmmaker Emmett Brennan to hear his story. Emmett is an artist and storyteller who uses film as a way to orient humanity towards care, curiosity, and repair. Both poetic and practical, his work gives momentum to the cautiously hopeful dreams in our hearts and offers deep insight into the interdependent relationship we share with the whole of life. He is most well known for producing ‘Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective’ and directing ‘Reflection: a walk with water,’ which premiered at Tribeca and won an Audience Favorite award at Mill Valley.

Makers and Arts Market” on Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The outdoor market features work in a multiple of mediums including oil and acrylic, fine woodworking, glass, pottery, textile arts, handwoven goods, weathervanes, metal fabrications and sculpture.

Millworks! is supported in part by Lamson and occupies the former knife factory site of Lamson and Goodnow. Open during market hours, the adjacent Lamson and Goodnow Factory Store has special discounts and promotion on knives and kitchen products.

About DriveTrain ~ Honoring time tested traditions, 'DriveTrain' hails from mid-coast Maine and Western Massachusetts. Ed Howe on fiddle and vocals, a perpetual emotico breaking strings; Bennett Konesni on guitar and vocals of Gawler Family band; Stuart Kenney on upright bass, vocals and five string banjo, of StringRays and Red Case Music, and numerous contra dance bands. This power trio will captivate you with music from Appalachia, Bluegrass traditions, Downeast fiddle tunes, worksongs, heartfelt originals, and more.
